Joining technology is of particular importance for plastics processing. For joining injection molded parts and extruded plastic parts, we use ultrasonic, hot plate or hot air technology, depending on the application. We receive tasks from all areas of the plastics processing industries.
Welding works by heating. Therefore, only plastics that can be deformed by heat, so-called thermoplastics, can be welded. Thermoplastics are divided into amorphous and semi-crystalline plastics. As a guide for our customers and interested parties, SONOTRONIC has designed a disk that includes the most common amorphous and semi-crystalline thermoplastics. Experience from the industry and many customer-specific sample jobs has resulted in an extensive evaluation scale for the ultrasonic, hot plate and hot air technologies.
Of course, this knowledge disk is no substitute for a personal consultation or feasibility studies. However, for many industry experts, this overview is already useful in preparation for a specific project, for example, when it comes to selecting materials.
Do you have questions about a current project? Do you need help with component design?
Feel free to contact our sales team and we will be happy to assist you! You will also receive your personal copy of the "Weldability of Plastics" disk (which will be available soon in the English version).
