SONOTRONIC with flexible machine concepts at Fakuma 2021

In October 2021, the time had finally come again and companies from the industrial plastics processing sector came together at Fakuma to provide insights into their latest developments. Together with 1,900 exhibitors, SONOTRONIC was also represented at the leading trade event for industrial plastics processing.

SONOTRONIC presented itself as a fully comprehensive supplier of ultrasonic technology for a wide range of industries. The focus was on machine concepts for the installation of fully automated production lines with robot technology and the automation options this offers to the customers. As a product innovation, the new iSONIC 20/6000 supplemented the range of generators. With an output power of 6,000 watts, it is specially designed for high-performance applications such as ultrasonic welding of non-ferrous metals or thermoplastics.

As a plant manufacturer, modular machine concepts are one of the characteristics of our products. The principle is a modular system that is based on modules and enables the use of different process steps. This can be the assembly or the actual processing of the parts, such as ultrasonic welding and ultrasonic riveting. SONOTRONIC thus addresses customers whose manufacturing process requires the integration of upstream and downstream work steps, such as screwing, clipping or gluing, and combines all processes in one machine.

The production lines are based on modules, each with a base plate. This provides space for up to four robots on each side. Coupled with options such as changeover and retrofit capability or the automatic transport of components and molds, the concept is adaptable and changeable to all customer requirements. Available options include, for example, quick-change devices with sensors for component variants, xyz-cartesian robot welding, or a complete tool change of the cassettes. The removal handling module can be equipped with or without lift function and with robots for fast processing.

New to the portfolio are the iSONIC stepper feed units with stepper motor. The industrial linear actuators impress with their high process reliability and are used for ultrasonic riveting or surface welding in delicate applications or small rivet domes. In many cases, they replace pneumatic or servo-driven feed units in machine and plant construction. The main reasons for this are the adjustable and continuous welding speed, the compact and space-saving tools and the low energy consumption.

At the booth, visitors also had the opportunity to ultrasonically weld plastic components on site with the ultrasonic standard machine ECOFLEX iSONIC and the bench top machine NC iSONIC.

The response was great and very positive. We were able to make many new contacts and take home lots of project inquiries.

Our conclusion: no digital event can replace personal contact!
